What is Corrective Maintenance!

In layman’s terms it is the action taken by your alarm installer to correct and rectify any faults that show up on the alarm system or is the action needed to replace any faulty detection equipment that through its failure, has generated a false alarm activation to that system.

Under the current regulations an alarm system that fails to operate correctly or has caused the system to false alarm, the alarm installation company responsible for it must attend and rectify the fault within 4 hours, or before the system has to be set again, which in the case of a residential property is usually at bed time, or in the case of a commercial premises is their closing time.

False alarms and faults today can be quickly diagnosed by a professional alarm engineer who can determine through the system event log who set and unset the system and at what time and date did the activation or false alarm occur. This log is also important to show your insurance company in the event of a genuine burglary the time and date of the event and more important the last time the system was set.

Company Related Faults: Are those where the company is responsible for the quality of the installation, the equipment installed or customer training.

Customer Related Faults: Are those where the customer fails to operate the system in correctly, or fails to show others the correct operation of the system.

Other Related Faults: Include power failures – vandalism – acts of god etc
